Classes & Workshops

On February 2, 2012 I'll be joined by Robin Robinson, and we'll be doing portfolio reviews at The Center for Photographic Art.

I'm happy to say (because it was by popular demand) that my "Beyond JPEG" class will be repeated in early 2012. The class is an introduction to the "raw" file format, and how to use Photoshop to create great looking photos from them.

For more information click here.

"On Paper" is a new course for photographers already familiar with 'raw' files, and who are printing their own high-quality photographs on a digital inkjet printer, such as the Epson 3800 or larger.

The course will be dedicated to the actual art of printing; choosing and using profiles; various fine-art papers, such as Baryta; surface textures and so on. Not for beginners (unless you're very curious! :-)

Click here to visit the course page, with a more detailed description.

PhotoFocus, sponsored by The Center for Photographic Art, is an opportunity for high-school student to learn from and question a professional photographer. I'm delighted to have been the instructor for the 2011 Salinas group. Great kids!

On November 5th and 6th, The Center for Photographic Art will be repeating its much-anticipated "Exposure Weekend." I'll be doing a shortened version of my "Beyond JPEG" course. At only 90 minutes it will be 'brief but beautiful.' I'll hit the high points and hopefully give you enough inspiration for you to continue investigating on your own.

Please join Martha Casanave, Al Weber, Bob Franco, Jerry Takigawa, Bob Kolbrener, Jason Bradley, Glenn Steiner, Patrick Tregenza and me for a great weekend of instruction. (Portfolio Reviews will be conducted by the Workshop Instructors in addition to Chuck Davis, Jack Wasserbach, Richard Garrod, Doug Steakley, Eduardo Fujii, Brian Taylor, and Huntington Witherill.)
